Scholarship Application Process for Freestyle Team Program Fees

Confidential Financial Needs-Based Scholarship Program for the Whitefish Mountain Resort Freestyle Team

Goal and Timeline

Whitefish Freestyle Inc., a non profit organization, is happy to offer confidential financial scholarships for up to ½  the cost of the upcoming years’ (full day only, not Friday night or Sunday Freeride)  program fees for the Whitefish Mountain Resort FreestyleTeam (WMRFT).

These scholarships may be awarded to those who otherwise would not be able to join the team without the financial assistance. The goal is to award ½ of the cost of the fees to all approved applicants, but this is dependent on the volume of applicants.

Each year a specific amount of funds are allocated for scholarships, and scholarships are awarded based on the strength of the application itself, not the order in which it is received.  When that amount is exhausted, scholarship award amounts may be reduced or may not be available.

Applications may be submitted anytime between April 9th, 2024 to May 31st.  The applications will be reviewed in early June, and the Inc. will announce the scholarship recipients before the end of June 2024.

Skiers and Snowboarders ages 8 to 18 may apply. While we encourage all athletes to answer the below questions in their own words, parents (or guardians) of the athletes are encouraged to supplement their athlete’s application with their own answers as well.
Applicants must, at the minimum, demonstrate a desire in furthering your skiing/snowboarding skills and a strong interest in Freestyle/Freeride skiing or snowboard training.  Like any athlete on the team, there is an expectation that athletes show their commitment by regularly attending team practices.
Some skills are also needed (having command of your skis/snowboard, confidence in your riding ability, and being able to hit a small jump, for example), but strong freestyle skills are not necessary.  Past participation in a freestyle competition or participation in ski school program or race team is also helpful.
